Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to go from no CI/CD to a production-ready pipeline?

For a basic pipeline on an existing project — build, test, deploy to staging — we estimate 2 to 4 weeks. Add multiple environments, security gates or legacy system integration and you're looking at 6 to 10 weeks. The key variable is the quality of the existing codebase and how much test coverage is already in place.

Can we run Kubernetes without an internal DevOps team?

Yes. We handle cluster configuration, network policies, upgrades and monitoring. Your team owns the application code. You do need at least one internal technical contact though — someone who can make architectural decisions and be present during critical rollouts.

How do you integrate an on-premise SAP system with cloud services without modifying the ERP?

We use a middleware layer — typically Apache Camel or MuleSoft — that reads SAP data via RFC, IDoc or standard APIs, transforms it into the required format and publishes it to the target system. The ERP stays untouched. Timelines range from 4 weeks for a single integration flow to 3-4 months for complex multi-flow scenarios.

Is GitOps with ArgoCD worth the overhead for a small team?

It makes sense for teams of 3-5 developers if you're running more than 4-5 environments or microservices. The main benefit is traceability: every infrastructure state is versioned in Git. If you have a single environment and a monolithic app, a standard CI/CD pipeline is cheaper to maintain and more than sufficient.

How do you ensure operational continuity when migrating from VMs to containers?

We run both environments in parallel. The existing system stays live while we build the containerized stack. Cutover happens service by service, not all at once. We use feature flags or an API gateway to shift traffic gradually, with the ability to roll back in under 30 minutes if anything looks wrong.
