Typical use cases
Traditional utility modernising its metering data infrastructure
Millions of smart meters deployed, but the MDM layer can't process the volume fast enough for real-time grid decisions. Clients come to us when billing cycles still rely on batch jobs running overnight and operations teams are flying blind on network events.
Renewable asset owner entering ancillary services markets
They have generation capacity but no structured way to participate in balancing or capacity markets. The challenge is aggregating flexibility across distributed assets, forecasting availability accurately, and submitting compliant bids to the TSO without building a full trading desk.
Industrial energy consumer automating demand response programmes
Large industrial loads under interruptibility contracts with the grid operator, but curtailment decisions still made by phone calls and spreadsheets. They reach out when they need automated load shedding logic, audit trails for settlement, and visibility into flexibility they can monetise.
Grid operator building a live digital twin of network assets
Ageing infrastructure, decades of SCADA data, and regulatory pressure to justify capex with data-driven evidence. They contact us when static GIS and periodic inspection cycles are no longer sufficient and they need scenario simulation before failures occur, not after.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have production experience with energy market APIs and clearing systems?
Yes. We have built connectors to European power exchange platforms and TSO APIs, including bid submission, settlement reconciliation, and imbalance tracking. Our starting point is always the specific market rules and gate closure times of the target country — the technical integration follows from that.
How do you handle the latency requirements for real-time grid monitoring?
For operational monitoring we use event-driven architectures with sub-second ingestion from SCADA and IIoT sensors. We separate the real-time operational stream from the analytical layer so that alerting and control logic are never blocked by reporting queries. We dimension each layer based on your actual SLA requirements.
Can you work within our existing OT/IT security boundaries?
We design integrations that respect the OT/IT demilitarised zone. Data flows from field systems through unidirectional gateways or data diodes where required. We don't push for cloud-first if your security policy mandates on-premise or air-gapped deployment — we work within the constraint and document the architecture accordingly.
We already have a GIS and an ERP. Do you replace them or integrate with them?
We integrate. GIS and ERP are data sources for the digital twin and the asset management layer, not systems we replicate. We build the connectors, define the canonical data model that sits between them, and add the analytical and predictive capabilities that neither system provides out of the box.
What does a prosumer platform project typically involve on your side?
Usually: metering data ingestion and normalisation, a rules engine for self-consumption and sharing calculations under local regulatory frameworks, an API layer for third-party apps, and an admin interface for community managers. The scope depends heavily on whether metering data access is already solved — that's where most delays originate.
